How It Works
Your knowledge and skills may be worth college credit! Through PEAK Credit, you can explore opportunities to earn academic credit for college-level learning you've gained through work, military service, professional training, certifications, and other experiences outside the classroom.
The key is demonstrating what you've learned. You'll need to provide documentation or other evidence of your knowledge and skills, which may include work samples, certificates, training records, projects, letters of verification, or other materials that show what you know and can do. Your learning will be evaluated by ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ faculty who are subject matter experts in their fields.
Introducing Experience Hub
Coming Soon: Experience Hub is currently being implemented at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½. In the meantime, students interested in exploring PEAK Credit opportunities can contact priorlearning@odu.edu for assistance.
Experience Hub is ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½'s online platform for exploring and documenting your prior learning. It provides a central place to organize your experiences, upload supporting materials, and work through the process of having your learning evaluated for potential academic credit.
Your Path To Credit
-
Wondering where to start? Your academic advisor is a great place to start! Together, you can review your degree requirements and explore where your prior experience and knowledge might apply. Have more questions? Get in touch with us!
-
Ready to document your learning? Create your Experience Hub profile and upload documentation of your prior experience and knowledge.
-
How does your experience connect to ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ courses? Experience Hub uses AI to identify ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ courses that may match your documented experience and knowledge. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ faculty then review those matches and select the best method for you to demonstrate what you know.
-
Ready to show what you know? Once your faculty evaluator selects an assessment method, you can submit your PEAK Credit petition. Depending on the method selected, you may be asked to provide additional documentation or demonstrate your knowledge in other ways.
-
Did you earn credit? Once your evaluation is complete, you'll be notified of the results. Credit is awarded based on the outcome of each course evaluation, so you may earn credit for some courses but not others.
