The University Doctoral Mentoring Award honors one tenured faculty member from each academic college whose commitment to mentoring doctoral students exemplifies excellence. Recipients are recognized for providing exceptional leadership, guidance, support, and professional development opportunities that contribute to the success of doctoral students.
Important Deadlines for 2027
- January 29, 2027: Deadline for colleges to submit the nomination of their award recipient to the Graduate School using this nomination form:
- April 2027: Winners will be honored at the Monarch Milestones event.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, a nominee must:
- Be a current, tenured graduate faculty member employed at the University for at least 5 years.
- Actively supervise doctoral students and support graduate education (teaching, committees, or research sponsorship).
- Not have received this award within the last 5 years.
Note to Colleges/Schools
Colleges have full autonomy to establish their own internal review committees, select their coordinators, and determine their own internal deadlines for gathering submissions from department chairs/program directors and for selecting their final nominee and submitting a formal nomination to the Graduate School. The Department Chair/Supervisor/Program Director must certify the faculty member’s eligibility before the nomination is sent to the Graduate School.
