About this Program
The Holocause & Genocide Studies Minor provides students with an interdisciplinary examination into the causes and effects of the Holocaust and other genocides, offering a deeper understanding of antisemitism, racism, prejudice, and other extreme hatreds that led to the mass annihilation of peoples in the past and present. It explores the impact, trauma and memory of such destruction through exploration via historical, artistic, musical, literary, cultural, geographical, theatrical, philosophical, and social scientific contexts. The minor increases student awareness of genocidal atrocities around the globe, asking that they bear witness to the voices of those who have lived through such catastrophic events, with the goal of carrying the witness forward and encouraging them to be active in the prevention of genocide in the future.

Requirements

Students must earn a grade of C (2.00) or better in all courses specified as a requirement for the minor and complete a minimum of six hours in upper-level courses in the minor requirement through courses offered by Old Dominion University.
